KEN HUNT | Owner, Steel Gym and AFI-certified Personal Trainer / Fitness Expert
With the inception of Ken Hunt’s ever-increasingly popular workout venue, Steel Gym, otherwise referred to as a “workout mecca,” he has sought more than to simply help New Yorkers bulk up; he's invited them to flex their financial muscle by giving back to various vital causes.
Following several fundraisers for LGBT rights, as well as the American Cancer Society breast cancer awareness non-profit organization, and along with his private donations to non-profits including GLAAD, HRC, SAGE, and many others, Ken Hunt has reached out his helping hand even more. Just recently, Hunt has joined an effort to help raise funds for Hope’s Voice, an HIV/AIDS awareness organization that boasts an international initiative funded in part by the United Nations. Hunt has additionally, and just as importantly, joined in helping one of the only shelters offering support and housing to LGBT homeless youth – Sylvia’s Place – where his efforts will ensure that these youth are offered proper clothing and housing, and that they are provided with food to fulfill basic dietary needs.
By hosting additional fundraisers and awareness events such as “Miracle on 23rd Street,” a toy drive being arranged for this year’s holiday season on behalf of non-profit Help is on the Way, Hunt will be able to reach out even more by providing those needy of others’ support with the essentials they require, whether that be financing or a gift for the holidays. |
“I feel it’s important to give back to many communities,” says Hunt. “When I’m able to help a cause or shine a little light on someone’s day, it makes me feel like I’m doing something good for society; that I contributed in some way.” |
Through his continuous philanthropic efforts, Hunt will bring much needed help to the non-profits providing hope to the people who need it the most.
In addition to his multitude of charitable endeavors, Hunt frequently shares his knowledge of proper fitness routines and nutrition through various channels, always expressing the importance of keeping one’s body in shape and staying healthy at all times.
Hunt’s articles on an array of fitness-related topics, including everything from mental workouts and routines for people living with compromised immune systems such as HIV/AIDS, are all able to be fully viewed and downloaded off of Steel Gym’s official web site, www.steelgym.com.
As a true testament to Hunt’s strong passion and leadership skills, the American Fitness Institute has named Steel Gym the “#1 Gym in New York City” for cost, cleanliness, equipment and service, and the gym has been called “the last real gym in New York” by famed bodybuilder Victor Martinez. |
